Casting has been announced for the upcoming Australian production of Ghost The Musical directed by Matthew Warchus.
Legendary Wicked star Jemma Rix will lead the cast as Molly. Rix starred as Elphaba in the Melbourne, Sydney, Singapore, South Korean, New Zealand and Filipino productions of Wicked between 2008 and 2015.
Reprising her performance from the UK and Asian tours is Wendy Mae Brown as Oda Mae Brown. The cast also includes former Australian Idol finalist Rob Mills (Fiyero in Australian production of Wicked) as Sam and Alex Rathgeber (Rocky Horror/Anything Goes) as Carl.
The Australian tour cast is completed by Ross Chisari as Willie Lopez as well as David Denis, Nicholas Eaton, Xander Ellis, Simon Fairweather, Samantha Hagen, Childi Mbakwe, Joshua Mulheran, Justine Puy, Elenoa Rokobaro, Monique Sallé, Drew Weston as well as Lydia Warr and Evette White (who comes direct from the US and Asian touring productions).
Ghost The Musical opens in Adelaide on 7th January 2016. The production will also play at the Regent Theatre in Melbourne, Theatre Royal in Sydney and Crown Theatre in Perth throughout 2016.
With choreography by Ashley Wallen, Ghost The Musical has book and lyrics by Bruce Joel Rubin who adapted his Academy Award-winning original screenplay for the stage. Original music and lyrics are by Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard.
Ghost The Musical premiered in Manchester in 2011 and opened in the West End later that year. The show then transferred to Broadway in 2012; Richard Fleeshman and Caissie Levy originated the roles of Sam and Molly in all three productions. Ghost The Musical has toured the UK, the US, Asia and Italy. Productions have also been staged in South Korea and Manila.
