Casting announced for Oliver! at the Leicester Curve

Casting has been announced for Oliver! at the Leicester Curve.

The production opens on 2nd December 2015 (previews from 27th November) and runs until 16th January 2016. Former artistic director Paul Kerryson will return to the Curve to direct the production.

Peter Polycarpou will star as Fagin alongside Cat Simmons who will play Nancy between 27th November and 2nd January. Laura Pitt-Pulford, who played Maria in Curve’s 2014 Christmas production of The Sound of Music, will take over as Nancy from 4th January for the remainder of the musical's run.  

The cast also includes: Oliver Boot (Bill Sikes), Jenna Boyd (Widow Corney), James Gant (Mr Bumble), John Griffiths (Mr Brownlow), Natalie Moore-Williams (Mrs Sowerberry & Mrs Bedwin), Lucy Thomas (Bet) and Jez Unwin (Mr Sowerberry & Grimwig.

Completing the cast are: Cassie Clare, Jaye Elster, Ross Lee Fowkes, Ryan Gover,Ian Gareth-Jones, Emma Harrold, Tim Hodges, Bethany Linsdell, Sarah-Marie Maxwell, Louis Stockil and Dickie Wood.

The role of Oliver will be shared by Liam Carr and Albert Hart. The role of Artful Dodger will be shared by Joel Fossard-Jones and Kwame Kandekore, who were recently seen at Curve in Sue Townsend’s The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 ¾ The Musical.

Joining Kerryson on the creative team are choreographer Andrew Wright, musical director Ben Atkinson, set designer Matt Kinley, costume designer takis, lighting designer Bruno Poet, sound designer Avgoustos Psillas and children’s casting director Jo Hawes.

Cat Simmons previously played Nancy in the UK tour of Oliver! whilst Samantha Barks filmed the Les Miserables movie. Her theatre credits include: Whistle Down The Wind (Aldwych), Fame! (Cambridge), Simply Heavenly and Been So Long (Young Vic), Aladdin (Old Vic) and Coming Home (Arcola). 

Laura Pitt-Pulford returns to the Curve where she has played Maria in The Sound of Music, Irene Molloy in Hello, Dolly! and Toine in Piaf. She is currently starring as Jean in The Smallest Show On Earth (UK tour). Her credits include: Milly in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (Open Air), Follies In Concert (Royal Albert Hall), The Light Princess (National), Marry Me A Little (St James), The Return of the Solider (Jermyn Street), A Man of No Importance (Salisbury Playhouse), Mack and Mabel and Parade (both Southwark Playhouse), title role in Sweet Charity (Belfast MAC), The Little Prince (Lyric Belfast), Guys and Dolls (the Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich, Clwyd Theatre/Salisbury Playhouse) and Copacabana (Watermill Theatre, Newbury).
