Celebrating sixty-five years since Frank Sinatra’s first ever performance at the London Palladium, Sinatra The Man and His Music is a fitting tribute to one of the greatest performers of all time. The show uses old footage of Sinatra performing live which is accompanied live by a glorious twenty-four piece orchestra.

The concept sounds a little bizarre but, once you get used to a rectangular screen being lowered at the start of each number, it does work. I must admit the absence of live singing does feel a little odd; however, I spoke to one lady during the interval who said she was thrilled they were only using footage as nobody could sing those numbers like the man himself. This is, of course, an extremely valid point and it's nice to reminisce, but I wouldn't want too many shows of this kind dominating the West End.

There's no denying that Sinatra is a man like no other. His presence, vocals and charisma are so effortless. If someone could invent a time machine I would do anything to go back and sneak into one of his concerts, his charm is unmatchable.

An ensemble of twenty West End dancers take to the stage throughout. Most the choreography is splendid with the cast fully committing, showcasing immense talent. They bring the show to life, the energy would be flat without them.

The first act of Sinatra The Man and His Music feels a little long, I thought the interval was coming several times before it actually did. The best tunes are saved for act two with 'My Way' providing a powerful finale, although I was disappointed that my favourite Sinatra song 'As Time Goes By' (from Casablanca) does not feature.

If you are a big admirer of Frank Sinatra you will probably enjoy this production immensely; however, you could probably have just as much fun staying in and watching YouTube clips in the comfort of your own home.
