It has been confirmed that King Charles III by Mike Bartlett is transferring to Broadway!
Rupert Goold's production, which won Best New Play last night at the Olivier Awards, will open at the Music Box Theatre in October.
Baz Bamigboye previously reported that Tim Pigott-Smith (pictured right) and the entire London cast (minus Katie Brayben who is now starring in Beautiful) will transfer to New York with the show.
King Charles III premiered at the Almeida Theatre in 2014 before transferring to the West End's Wyndham’s Theatre where the show's run was extended due to huge demand. The cast also included Oliver Chris, Richard Goulding, Nyasha Hatendi, Adam James, Margot Leicester, Tom Robertson, Nicholas Rowe, Tafline Steen, Lydia Wilson and Miles Richardson.
Bartlett's play explores the people underneath the crowns, the unwritten rules of our democracy, and the conscience of Britain's most famous family. Design is by Tom Scutt with music composed by Jocelyn Pook, lighting by Jon Clark and sound by Paul Arditti.
