Broadway.com have suggested that West End actress Samantha Barks could make her Broadway debut in new musical Amélie.
Barks recently led a workshop of the musical adaptation of the 2001 French film. Amélie will premiere at California’s Berkeley Repertory Theatre in August. The show has music by Daniel Messé, lyrics by Messé and Nathan Tysen and book by Craig Lucas. Pam MacKinnon directs.
Best known for finishing as a runner-up on BBC1's I'd Do Anything and starring as Éponine in Tom Hooper's film adaptation of Les Miserables, Barks' theatre credits include: Mallory/Avril in City Of Angels (Donmar), Velma Kelly in Chicago (Hollywood Bowl), Nancy in Oliver! (UK Tour), Éponine in Les Miserables (West End / 25th Anniversary Concert) and Sally Bowles in Cabaret.
