Jerry Mitchell wants all-British cast for West End transfer of Kinky Boots

As previously reported by West End Frame, it looks like Kinky Boots will begin previews at the Adelphi Theatre on 21st August 2015 (we're still waiting for this to be 100% confirmed).

Speaking to the Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye regarding casting, director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell said: "It’s got to be British actors, because one of the things we always took a beating on in New York was the accents."

UPDATE: Kinky Boots has confirmed details of its West End transfer! Click here for full info!

Based on the 2005 film, Kinky Boots had an out-of-town tryout in Chicago in 2012 before opening on Broadway in 2013. Last year the musical launched its first US Tour.

Kinky Boots tells the "uplifting and heartwarming" tale of Charlie Price, a young man reluctantly taking over his family's struggling business. Charlie meets and finds inspiration in Lola and together, the unlikely pair finds that they have more in common than they ever dreamed possible... and discovers that "when you change your mind about someone, you can change your whole world."

The winner of six 2013 Tony® Awards, including Best Musical, Kinky Boots features a Tony® Award-winning score by Cyndi Lauper, book by Harvey Fierstein, and direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell.
