Chichester's Taken At Midnight transfers to the West End starring Penelope Wilton

It has been announced that Jonathan Church's world premiere production of Taken At Midnight will transfer to the West End next year.

Following the closure of Great Britain, Mark Hayhurst's new play begins performances at the Theatre Royal Haymarket on 15th Janruary 2015 for a limited season until 14th March 2015.

Penelope Wilton is set to reprise her portrayal of Irmgard in the show which is currently enjoying a sold-out season in Chichester.

The cast also includes: Martin Hutson (Hans Litten), Allan Corduner (Fritz Litten), Pip Donaghy (Erich Mühsam), Mike Grady (Carl von Ossietzky), John Light (Dr Conrad), David Yelland (Lord Clifford Allen), Marc Antolin (Gustav Hammerman), Christopher Hogben (Hotelier) and Dermot McLaughlin (SA Officer).

Last seen in the West End opposite Jude Law's Hamlet in 2009, Penelope Wilton originates the role of Irmgard, the mother of celebrated lawyer Hans Litten who puts Hitler on the witness stand in 1930s Germany with devastating consequences.

Staged as part of Chichester Festival Theatre's Hidden Histories season, Irmgard's relationship with her son, Hans, and her courageous efforts to help him are at the heart of this compelling new play.

Commissioned by commercial producer Mark Goucher, and written with Penelope Wilton in mind Taken at Midnight is Mark Hayhurst's first work for the stage.
