Nominees announced for Best West End Debut Award 2014

We are delighted to announce the full list of nominees for our 2014 Best West End Debut Award!

Voting for Best West End Debut, which runs as part of the 2014 West End Frame Awards, opens tomorrow morning (Monday 8th September) at 11am (please note the new time) and closes at 3pm on Friday 26th September.

Last year’s Best West End Debut Award was won by international star Zrinka Cvitešić for her performance in Once. In 2012 the Award was won by X Factor UK winner Shayne Ward for his performance in Rock Of Ages.

The 15 nominees for this year's award are: A.J. Holmes (Elder Cunningham / The Book of Mormon), Alexandra Burke (Rachel Marron / The Bodyguard), Alice Stokoe (Sophie Sheridan / Mamma Mia), Billy Harrigan Tighe (Elder Price / The Book of Mormon), Carey Mulligan (Kyra Hollis / Skylight), Cleo Higgins (Lead Vocalist / Thriller Live), Denis Grindel (Jimmy Rabbitte / The Commitments), Eva Noblezada (Kim / Miss Saigon), Harry Shearer (Joe / Daytona), Lizzy Connolly (Jolene Oakes / Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), Martin Quinn (Oskar / Let The Right One In), Matt Nalton (Nick Massi / Jersey Boys), Michael Colbourne (Enjolras / Les Miserables), Rachelle Ann Go (Gigi / Miss Saigon) and Willemijn Verkaik (Elphaba / Wicked).

Unlike other theatre awards, West End Frame only opens voting for one category at a time and combines male and female actors from musicals and plays into the same categories (where applicable). This award is a celebration of the West End’s newest talent.

The 2014 West End Frame Awards began in March when The Book of Mormon was voted Funniest West End Show. Les Miserables’ Tam Mutu went on to win Best Performance of a Song and, most recently, Miss Saigon’s Carolyn Maitland won Understudy of the Year.

  1. Rachelle Ann Go .:)))) Gigi .<3

  2. Easy one for me... Matt Nalton! Absolutely SUPERB as Nick Massi, I still find it hard to believe it's his debut role and I've seen him 3 times so far :)

  3. Matt Nalton for me too...fabulous!

  4. I don't see how you could vote for anyone other than Willemijn Verkaik. The super ULTIMATE Elphaba who has played the role all over the world including on Broadway, and taken the West End by storm! No thought required, absolutely Willemijn.

  5. rachelle ann go as gigi!
